The City Sculpture “Doggy’s Capital” is based on the poem by Vladimir Maiakovskiy “Krasnodar” (1926). After his visit to Krasnodar, the famous poet was impressed by the number of dogs of various breeds in Krasnodar streets. He devoted a humorous poem to the city full of sunshine even in February, which he called the “doggy’s capital”.
Maiakovskiy performed in Krasnodar on 14 February. On this date sweethearts celebrate St. Valentine’s Day. So it is not surprising that residents of Krasnodar nicknamed the sculpture “dogs in love”.
